Tamil Nadu Government was trying to get an exemption for the NEET Examination for two years. In this case, the Tamil government was very serious about putting an ordinance on this issue. All over India, Central Government has announced compulsory entrance exam for joining the Medical course.The supreme court had also put an order for conducting NEET exam all over India. CBSE conducted examination for NEET 2017 for all over India and the results are already announced with the rank list. Last year in Tamilnadu, they selected students for the Medical program based on the +2 marks.
From this year, the Central government announces that Tamilnadu medical admission is also under the control of NEET Examination. Medical Course admission will be based on the ranking provided based on the NEET examination. But Tamilnadu students weren’t prepared and ready for the exam as there is less CBSE curriculum school. The majority of the schools in Tamilnadu follows the Tamil Nadu State Board curriculum. So the Tamilnadu government decided to put ordinance for NEET exam for two years. This order has been sent to the central government. The Ministers of Tamilnadu had approached the central government by telling that to put an immediate law in order to exempt NEET for two years.
Students as well the Tamilnadu government are in a confused state about the status of the NEET examination. In India, 11 lakh 38 thousand 890 were applied for NEET entrance examination. In that 10 lakh, 90 thousand students wrote the examination. In 213 cities they had arranged 2200 examination centers. In Tamilnadu, students wrote tests at Chennai, Madurai, Coimbatore, Salem, Namakkal, Tirunelveli. All over the India, only 6 lakh 11 thousand 739 students cleared the examination.
This year NEET exam was considered by experts to be very tough. In Tamilnadu and West Bengal states the question was tough because regional questions are different from the questions in English Question Paper. Many people across the country had raised concerns about this issue and there are pending cases regarding this issue on the court.
In every state, people started to strike against NEET examination. In Tamilnadu DMK leader Stalin had announced they will protest against NEET examination for the sake of students. The Chief Minister of Tamilnadu Mr.Edappadi Palanisamy also requested our Prime Minister Mr.Narendra Modi about this NEET issue. The central government had accepted the request and it is under the process for the past few weeks. Meanwhile, students are stranded as they do not know which way the Central Government will take.
