During movement of electron through ETC
Options
(a) pH of matrix increases
(b) Electrons are transported by active transport
(c) Electrons are resonated
(d) Electrons show fluoroscence
Correct Answer:
pH of matrix increases
Explanation:
Transport of electrons from NADH over ETC helps in pushing three pairs of protonsw in pushing three pairs of protons to the outer chamber while two pairs of protons are absorbed from the matrix during electron flow from the FADH₂ (as the latter donates its electrons further down the ETC. As a result concentration of H⁺ ions in matrix reduces. Reduced H⁺ concentration results in increases basicity of the matrix i.e. pH of matrix is increased.
