Important Points Before Preparing Thirty NEET Study Plan
How much time should I study everyday – Study Duration:
Put aside time for daily activities like bathing, eating, exercise/play and allocate time for your entertainment/enjoyment. Remember that you need 6-7 hours of sleep everyday to effectively study during the day. Anything less than 6 hours would affect your memory retention. Use the remaining hours to prepare for the NEET exam. For example if you set aside 2 hours for daily activities and another 3 hours for enjoyment, then you would have between 10 to 13 hours in a day while preparing study plan for NEET exam.
For those who have studied state board syllabus, then you’ve got to bear in mind you’ve studied only 70 percent of the NEET syllabus. You have to put in extra effort in these 30 days . Utilise the next one month to totally revise every chapter out of Biology, Physics, Chemistry- 10 times for every topic of 11th and 12th. You may have to allocate 14 hours for your study plan for NEET.
Where you should spend time and in what order – Study/Revise/Practice?
There is no point in reading the NCERT book for Physics, Chemistry and Biology for NEET exam without seeing previous NEET question papers. You have to solve previous year NEET question papers/ solve atleast past five years NEET questions which will give an idea about the kind of questions asked in the NEET examination. Just solving previous year questions will not assist you for the exam as such previous year NEET questions are not likely to be repeated. Most of your time during these 30 days should be spent for practice and the least should be spent on revision. The ideal order for effective practice is take topic wise practice tests first, then move on to reading the NCERT book/watch video summary for that topic. You should prepare your handwritten notes while you are reading NCERT book/watching topic video. While preparing study plan for NEET, you should plan for both activities, taking topic wise tests as well as reading the material(NCERT book) for that topic.
Which subject you should focus – Physics/Chemistry/Biology?
As you’re biology student, you may be more inclined towards biology over Physics & Chemistry. However, if you want to have clear NEET, you can not simply count on two subjects. Generally students neglect Physics as nearly all 45 questions would be numericals which test your conceptual understanding and application skills. Each question can answer correctly will take you 1000 rank below or above, so it is necessary to focus on all 3 subjects.
Should I solve Previous Questions or take Model/Mock Tests?
Solving previous year NEET questions will help you to understand the type of questions being asked in the exam. Mock test help you to solve the questions fast enough so that you will be able to attempt all 180 questions during the examination time. NEETLab online Mock Tests will also help you to identify weak subjects and weak topics by giving your score topic wise.
We have compiled topicwise important MCQs which are frequently asked in previous medical entrance examinations. It is not possible to solve hundreds of MCQs in every topic for each subject. So we have picked 200 topicwise MCQs for biology topics and 100 MCQS for chemistry and biology. You can download NEETLab android app by clicking below to practice these MCQs.
Which Subject should I start first?
Students who studied Biology for one week, Chemistry for next week and Physics the week after, for the last NEET examination have expressed that their motivation level gradually decreases as they proceed, Physics being more analytical gives mental pressure when dealt at the end. NEETLab advises students to study one topic everyday from all the subjects so that you can keep your motivation level high.
Which standard should I focus More?
NEET questions papers gives equal weightage to class 11 and class 12 syllabus for all the subjects. In case of physics, the weightage between Physical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry and Inorganic Chemistry is well balanced. Similarly equal weightage is given between Botony and Zoology in case of Biology.
Which topic should I give more weightage?
If you intention is to just pass the NEET exam, then you can focus on the important topics of each subject based on the number of questions appeared in the past NEET question papers. Nearly all chapters from class 11 and class 12 would get atleast one question in every NEET question paper. So if you aim to get the highest score, then you should not leave any topic as every correct answer moves up your All India Rank by 1000.
What Materials and Book Should I have before proceeding for the 30 day NEET crash course?

30 Day Study Plan for NEET
- Study 11 hours everyday. If you think, 11 hours is too much, then there is no point in discussing about the 30 day study plan for NEET as it is impossible to review and revise in less than 11 hours per day.
- Each subject is divided into 24 topics and study one topic from each subject everyday
- Spend atleast 3 hours for each subject. For three subjects, it would be 9 hours.
- Spend 1 hour out of the 3 hours to take the topic wise test. Before you read anything from NCERT book or watch revision video for that topic, you should take the topic wise test. This will help you understand the type of questions you can anticipate in the NEET exam. If you do not know the answer, use the hint provided. If you still could not answer, the explanation would tell you the correct answer.
- After taking topic wise practice test, you would know what to read and how to read the NCERT book and what kind of videos you should watch for that topic to improve your learning on that topic. Spend 1.5 hours for this and retake the topicwise test again. While learning make sure that you prepare handwritten notes for that topic for revising them later. Handwritten notes are 10 times effective than marking important points in the NCERT text book itself.
- Irrespective of whether you have completed the learning for that topic or not after 3 hours, you should move on to the next topic of another subject. Don’t worry that you are going to miss questions from these topic, you can use the buffer time during the last 7 days to cover these topics based on the weightage given for that topic in NEET examination.
- Spend atleast one hour before going to sleep to summarise what you have learned that day by looking at the notes prepared during that day. Come up with 3 page summary will be used for revision just before going for the NEET examination.
- Spent one hour everyday early morning to revise the summary sheet and and the revision notes prepared the previous day. The study plan for NEET should accommodate time for both summarization and revision activity.
- Use the last 6 days for solving previous year NEET questions and to take Mock/Model tests. These tests are available in NEETLab App. Take 1 model test everyday and one mock test everyday. After taking this test, the results would reveal your weaker topics. Spend 2 hours to study/revise your weaker topics after taking the test.
- Spend atleast 3 hours everyday for your entertainment/relaxation. Watch TV/movie in the afternoon or sleep for atleast one hour during the late afternoon. A quick sleep between 3PM to 4PM would freshen you up for the evening study.
