NEET examination is conducted once a year, usually in the month of May. From the year 2017, Medical Council of India(MCI) has announced that all medical seats(MBBS/BDS)in any medical/dental college must only be filled based on the NEET examination score. From 2020 onwards, NEET will be the single entrance for all medical courses in India including AIIMS and JIPMER. Last Year, close to 15 lakh students appeared for the NEET examination. This year(NEET 2020), it is expected that close to 16.5 lakh students will be appearing for the examination.

Eligibility to Appear For NEET Examination:
- The student must have passed or appeared in +2 or equivalent examination from recognized Indian Education Board. Only students who study Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Bio-technology are eligible to appear in the NEET examination.
- Minimum Age Limit is 17 years and there is no maximum age limit for the examination.
- There is no limit on the number of Attempts to clear the examination.
Eligibility for Medical Admission
- Students who secure more than 50% in Physics, Chemistry, Biology / Biotechnology and English are eligible to enroll for MBBS and BDS admission. For OBC/SC and ST candidates, 40% marks are sufficient.
- Candidate should get a minimum of 50 percentile in NEET (National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test) examination to become eligible for medical and dental admissions. However, for OBC/ST and SC candidates, 40 percentile is set as the minimum requirement for eligibility.
- General Category – Above 50th Percentile
- Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribes/ Other Backward Classes – Above 40thPercentile
- Physically Handicapped (PH) – 45th Percentile
Registration
Registration for NEET examination 2019 should be done online on the official website, ntaneet.nic.in. The student should provide their Name, Phone no, Email ID, Date of Birth and Aadhar Number. After registration, you can pay the application fees online via NetBanking, Credit Card or Debit Card. After payment of the fees, you will get the confirmation page.
NEET Syllabus
NEET Syllabus for 2019 is based on the NCERT class 11 and class 12 syllabus. If one is thorough with the NCERT textbooks from start to end, he/she can attempt more than 90% of the questions from NEET examination. - NEET Examination is a single stage test

- Apart from English, Question Paper is provided in regional languages such as Hindi, Telugu, Tamil
- Total of 180 questions
- Out of 180 questions, 90 comes from Biology, 45 from Physics and 45 from Chemistry.
- Each right answer gets you 4 marks and each wrong answer takes away 1 mark.
- Total marks for NEET examination = 180 * 4 = 720 Marks

Total Medical Seats
The total medical seats in India is close to 52300. This includes both MBBS and BDS seats. All these 52K seats will be filled based on the NEET UG score. Every student who secures a rank in NEET examination is eligible to apply through All India Quota as well as State Quota. Every government medical college reserves 15% of their seats for All India Quota and the remaining 85% seats for the respective State Quota.
There will be two counselling sessions conducted for medical admissions, one at the centre level and one at the state level. The Medical Council Committee conducts counselling for 15% seats and the state education department conducts counselling for their 85% quota seats.
Apart from the government-run medical colleges, all deemed medical universities/colleges, private run medical and dental colleges, Armed Forces Medical College will also participate in seat allotment process.
Medical Admission Process
After the examination, the board publishes the All India Rank for all candidates based on the score obtained in the NEET examination. For 15% All India quota, merit list of successful students will be prepared by the board based on the merit list. Medical counselling committee(www.mcc.nic.in) conducts online counselling for medical admission. After getting the NEET score, students should register with Medical Counselling Committee website and enter their choices of medical college for counselling.
For 85% state quota, the state authorities will invite applications for counselling based on the merit list prepared using the All India Rank.
