Boyle’s Law

Boyle Law States Of Matter Gases And Liquids ExplanationBoyle Law States Of Matter Gases And Liquids Explanation

Volume of gas is inversely proportional to pressure at constant temperature.

When mass and temperature is kept constant,

P1 V1 = P2V2

where P1 refers to the pressure of gas-1 and P2 refers to pressure of gas-2, V1 refers to the volume of gas-1 and V2 refers to the volume of the gas-2. When you get problems which contain two volumes or two pressures, then you should see if Boyle’s law can be applied to solve the problem.

Points to Remember

  1. As pressure increases, volume decreases
  2. As pressure decreases, volume increases
